What is a Layered Scent Routine?
A layered scent routine is the process of building your fragrance from the shower up, by applying fragrance in layers:
Cleansing Soap → Scrub → Wash → Lotion → Oil → Mist → Perfume(s)
your scent lasts longer and smells richer on your skin.
It’s the #1 way to get compliments and long-lasting performance.
✔ Better Longevity
Moisturized skin holds fragrance longer.
✔ Stronger Projection
Each layer adds depth and amplifies the scent bubble around you.
✔ More Control
You can choose how sweet, soft, warm, or bold you want to smell.
✔ Unique to You
Your fragrance routine works like styling an outfit: the right combo of perfumes creates a unique vibe only you can pull off.
The SSR 7-Step Routine Explained
Our Luxe Boxes include products to follow our 7-step routine, however this is customizable to you. Feel free to add, remove, or skip steps that work best for you and your skin type. Below are the steps we recommend when using our products.
In the shower…
Step 0: Cleanse Your Skin
Although the products for this step are NOT included in our Luxe Boxes, it’s very important to start your shower off with a soap or wash that will cleanse your skin. This can be an antibacterial soap or sensitive skin soap that will rid your skin of bacteria and product build-up.
Step 1: Polish Your Skin
Exfoliating with a sugar scrub clears away dead skin so your scent layers absorb better, last longer, and smell richer on your body. Use your body scrub all over excluding private or sensitive areas. Using a scrub 2 - 3 time a week will give you soft, healthy skin. Rinse thoroughly.
Step 2: Double Cleanse Your Skin
This cleansing step is more for prepping your skin for scent layering. Since this is a fragrant body wash, think of it as the true base for your scent layering, while also helping remove any sugar scrub that was still left on your skin.
After the shower…
Step 3: Nourish Your Skin
Damp your skin dry once out of the shower and apply your body lotion. The nourishing body lotion/cream will bring moisture back to your skin to eliminate any dryness.
Step 4: Seal in that Moisture
Use your body oil all over, excluding private areas and face, to seal in the moisture from your shower and body lotion/cream. This sealant is also important for your perfumes to cling to for longevity.
Step 5: Spray on your Mist
Depending on your placement of your fragrance, you can spray your body mist before or after your perfumes. Its really your preference. Body mists have a shorter longevity so I recommend spraying on areas you wouldn’t spray your perfumes.
Steps 6 & 7: Finish with your Perfumes
For your perfumes, again this is your preference. It’s always best to spray perfume on your hot spots like your wrists, neck, inner elbows, behind your knees, and ankles. However, if you’re an oversprayer (like me), you know what to do!
